For contemporary Ukrainian historical science, the problem under study is
of considerable scientific and practical interest, since, in connection with the reform
of agriculture in modern Ukraine, there is a need to rethink the experience
of these structures. The scientific novelty of the study is that for the first time, on
the basis of primary sources, the history of creation and activity of Pereyaslav
Zemstwo depot of agricultural implements and machines is analyzed. The purpose
of the article is to analyze the activity of the warehouse in 1892–1915, to clarify
its role in providing the population of Pereyaslav county with agricultural stock.
The methodological basis of the study is a systematic approach, the use of logical
and comparative analysis of sources, summarizing the results.
The analysis of sources allowed us to trace the history of origin and activity
of Pereyaslav Zemstwo warehouse of agricultural machines in Pereyaslav Poltava
province in 1892–1915. The warehouse sold, gave credit or sold by installments
agricultural machinery of domestic producers, roofing iron, sowing seeds,
household appliances. In general, the activity of the warehouse can be considered
successful: the number and range of agricultural implements and machines
in the farms of Pereyaslav county increased, the peasants received agronomic
knowledge and joined the progressive methods of farming. The directions and
the mechanism of implementation of the technique in general were similar to the
majority of Zemstwo warehouses of agricultural machines in Ukrainian provinces.
