The article studies the periodicals of the Ukrainian diaspora of 1920–1930,
which highlighted the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people in the
period of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921, as well as the life and activities
of the leading figures of the revolution. The research also analyses the role of
the diaspora periodicals in the research of Symon Petliura, the Head of the Directory,
and the Chief Otaman of the Ukrainian People’s Republic military. The
findings show the nature, direction, content, and peculiarities of the publications,
the need, and the worthiness of their further studying. The publications in the periodicals
of the Ukrainian diaspora significantly expand the source base for the
topic of the national-liberation struggle of the Ukrainians during the Ukrainian
Revolution of 1917–1921 and one of its leaders Symon Petliura.
Keywords: Symon Petliura, the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921, periodicals
