The article investigates the examination of relics in Greek Catholic antimensions
of the 18th Ct. One of the main components of the antimension is relics of
Martyrs. The ancient tradition of placing relics of Martyrs in the antimension was
referred us to the days of early Christianity, when the Liturgy served on the graves
of Martyrs. During regular inspection of churches, clergy have paid attention to
the antimension. In this article, we demonstrate how relics in the antimensions
of Greek Catholic churches were inspected in 18th Ct. In determining the authenticity
of the relics in the antimensions age of material of pocket and antimension
itself, and seam state was played a great role. Two bishops of the Ukrainian Greek
Catholic Church: Athanasius Sheptytsky and Florian Hrebnytskyy used their own
stamp to confirm the authenticity of the relics. In addition, the possibility of illegal
use of relics was fixed.
