Устатті розглянуто концепцію феодалізму, що її висунула марксистсько-ленінська наука у СРСР, дискутуючи підходи західних вчених. Проаналізовано еволюцію цієї концепції від класичного марксизму й дореволюційної російської історіографії до кінця 1980-х рр. Визначено можливості відходу від догматичного трактування понять „ феодалізм” і „ кріпосництво” радянськими медієвістами.
The article examines the concept of “feudalism” developed by Marxist-Leninist historiography in the USSR in opposition to the Western concept. It traces the evolution of the Soviet concept from classic Marxism and pre-revolutionary Russian historiography up to the 1980s. The author analyzes the possibilities of reconsidering the orthodox reading of the concepts of “feudalism” and “serfdom” by Soviet historians.
